The first one is the daruma dolls. Daruma dolls are thought to be somewhat like a good luck charm in Japan, and it's cute round figure is loved by many people. At Katsuo-ji Temple, there are daruma dolls everywhere, which create a unique atmosphere. The daruma dolls at Katsuo-ji Temple are called "Kachi-daruma" (winning daruma.) At the temple, visitors can buy daruma dolls in many sizes, and good luck charms that are shaped like daruma dolls. The daruma dolls have no eyes in the beginning. Visitors are supposed to draw in right eye when they make their wish, and draw in the other left eye when their wish comes true. When one's daruma doll gets both eyes drawn in, it should be brought back to the temple. There are also "Daruma-mikujis" (daruma fortune telling) and daruma shaped key chains, biscuits, and candies, which are good souvenirs.
